Prince Street Church has begun a 21-day prayer emphasis, September 13 through October 3.

During these 21 days, our church family is praying one simple prayer each day:

“Holy Spirit, help me see where You are at work today and give me courage to join You.”

Parents, we would love for you to participate—and to invite your family to pray with you. Here are three prompts to help you begin:

Spirit, lead me.
Give me patience, wisdom, and grace in the way I speak and respond at home.

Spirit, lead our church.
Help Prince Street Church support families and become a spiritual family for people in every season of life.

Spirit, lead us into our community.
Show our family a neighbor, classmate, or local need that we can pray for and serve together.

You might pray together at breakfast, around the dinner table, at bedtime, or during the drive to school. Then ask one another:

Where did you notice God at work today?

Whether you begin today or have been praying from the start, we invite your family to join us.

Wednesday is coming! This week we’re continuing Foundations and learning another tool that can help you understand the Bible when you read it for yourself. And yes…there will be pancakes. 🥞 Eat • 🎲 Play • 📖 Grow ⏰ Wednesday | 6:00–8:00 PM 📍 Youth House Here’s the plan: 🥞 EAT — Pancakes & Sausage! 🎲 PLAY — We’ll have some fun together and plenty of time to hang out and connect. 📖 GROW — We’re talking about the different kinds of writing found in the Bible and why they matter. Bring your Bible! 📖 This Week: Why Does Genre Matter? The Bible is one big Story, but it contains many different kinds of writing. There’s history. Poetry. Prophecy. Wisdom. Letters. And more. Think about it: you don’t read a poem the same way you read a history book. You don’t read a letter the same way you read a proverb. The same is true when you read the Bible. This Wednesday, we’ll learn how recognizing the genre of a passage can help you better understand what you’re reading and what God is communicating through His Word. The goal isn’t just to learn a bunch of Bible terms. We want to give you tools that help you read and understand the Bible for yourself. 🔥 This Week’s Challenge Want to see the difference genre makes? Read these two passages: 📖 Psalm 23 📖 Mark 4:35–41 Then think about: What is different about the way these passages are written? What does each passage teach you about God? Why might it matter that one is poetry and the other tells us about an event in Jesus’ life? You don’t need perfect answers. Just pay attention to what you notice. Parent Update- Week of Sept 21
Parents, here’s what’s coming up this week in Student Ministry! This Wednesday, we’ll continue our Foundations series as we help students learn how to read and understand Scripture for themselves. This week, we’re looking at the different genres found in the Bible and why recognizing them matters when we read God’s Word. This Wednesday Date: Wednesday, September 23 Time: 6:00–8:00 PM Location: Youth House Who: Students in 6th–12th grade Dinner: Pancakes & Sausage 📖 This Week in Foundations: Genres in Scripture The Bible is one Story, but it contains many different kinds of writing. This week, students will learn about genres found throughout Scripture, including history, poetry, prophecy, wisdom literature, letters, and more. Why does that matter? We don’t read a poem the same way we read a history book, and we don’t read a letter exactly the same way we read a proverb. Recognizing what kind of writing we’re reading helps us slow down, pay attention to what the biblical authors are communicating, and understand God’s Word more clearly. Our goal isn’t simply for students to know the names of different genres. We want to give them practical tools that help them become more confident reading and studying Scripture for themselves. 🏠 Parent Challenge: Read It Differently Sometime this week, take a few minutes with your student and read Psalm 23 and Mark 4:35–41 together. Then talk about these questions: What is different about the way these two passages are written? What does each passage teach us about God? Why might it matter that one is poetry and the other tells us about an event in Jesus’ life? You don’t need to turn this into a lesson or have all the answers. Let your student do some of the thinking. Ask questions, listen to what they notice, and talk about it together. The goal is simply to open God’s Word together and practice recognizing how the kind of writing we’re reading helps us understand what God is communicating through it. 🌧️ Giant Banana Split Update It looks like we’re going to have some rainy weather, so we will not be doing the giant banana split this Wednesday. Don’t worry—we haven’t forgotten about it! We’ll save it for another night when the weather cooperates and we can enjoy it together. 🎃 Looking Ahead: Pumpkin Party The last Wednesday of October will be our Pumpkin Party for students in 6th–12th grade! We’re planning a fun night with: 🎃 Pumpkin carving 🍽️ Pumpkin-themed food 🎲 Pumpkin games Students are welcome to dress in costume, as long as costumes are appropriate for youth group. This will also be a great night for students to invite a friend. We’ll share more details as we get closer. 🙏 Pray With Us As we gather this week, please pray: For understanding — that students would learn to read Scripture carefully and understand what God is communicating through His Word. For confidence — that students would become increasingly comfortable opening and studying the Bible for themselves. For desire — that knowing how to study Scripture would lead to a deeper desire to spend time in God’s Word. For transformation — that students wouldn’t simply learn more about the Bible, but would be shaped by God’s Word as they follow Jesus. Thank you for partnering with us as we help students know, love, and follow Jesus. We’re looking forward to seeing our 6th–12th grade students this Wednesday from 6:00–8:00 PM at the Youth House! From September 13 through October 3, Prince Street Church is setting aside 21 days to seek God together. During these 21 days, we are encouraging everyone in our church family to pray one simple prayer each day: “Holy Spirit, help me see where You are at work today and give me courage to join You.” To help us pray together, we are sharing a new post each day on the Prince Street Church Facebook page. Each post includes a short reflection and a specific prayer focus based on one of three prompts: Spirit, lead me. What does God want to do in my life? Spirit, lead our church. How is God leading Prince Street Church? Spirit, lead us into our community. Where is God already working around us, and how can we join Him? Student Update Week of September 14
This Week in Student Ministry — Student Edition We had a great time at Uprise Fest this weekend! Thanks to everyone who came and spent the weekend with us. It was a lot of fun worshiping together, listening to some great music, and having extra time to hang out. Now it’s a new week, and Wednesday night is coming! We’re continuing our Foundations series with a really practical question: How do you actually read the Bible and let it shape your life? 🌮 Eat • 🎲 Play • 📖 Grow ⏰ Wednesday | 6:00–8:00 PM 📍 Youth House Here’s the plan: 🧀 EAT — Grilled Cheese & Tater Tots! We didn’t get our grilled cheese last week, so we’re trying again. 🎲 PLAY — We’ll have some fun together and plenty of time to hang out and connect. 📖 GROW — We’re continuing our Foundations series and learning how to read Scripture for ourselves. Bring your Bible! 📖 This Week: How Do We Let the Bible Shape Us? We’ve spent the last couple of weeks talking about why we can trust the Bible and what we believe about Scripture. We learned from 2 Timothy 3:16–17 that Scripture is God-breathed and is meant to teach, reprove, correct, and train us. But how does that actually happen? This Wednesday, we’re going to give you a simple tool you can use anytime you open your Bible. When you read Scripture, ask these four questions: What does this Scripture say about God and His character? What does this Scripture say that God does? What does this Scripture say about who we are? In light of this Scripture, how do I get to live? You don’t need to be a Bible expert to read and understand God’s Word. These questions can help you slow down, pay attention to what Scripture says, and think about how it shapes your life. 🔥 This Week’s Challenge Don’t wait until Wednesday to try the four questions. Read Titus 3:1–7 and ask the Four Questions above. Write down your answers or just think through them. Pay special attention to the words “But when…” in verse 4. What changes in the passage, and why? You don’t need to come up with the “perfect” answers. Slow down, pay attention to what the passage actually says, and come ready to talk about what you discovered Wednesday. 🙏 Prayer Challenge This week, ask God to: Give you a desire to spend time in His Word. Help you understand what you read. Show you how His Word should shape the way you live. Help time in Scripture become a regular habit in your life. Student Ministry Parent Update-September 14
Student Ministry Parent Update | This Week We had a great time together at Uprise Fest this weekend! It was good to spend time with our students, enjoy the music and activities, and continue building relationships as a Student Ministry. This Wednesday, we’re back at the Youth House and continuing our Foundations series. We’ll move from talking about what we believe about Scripture to something very practical: How do we actually allow Scripture to shape the way we live? This Wednesday Date: Wednesday, September 16 Time: 6:00–8:00 PM Location: Youth House Who: Students in 6th–12th grade Dinner: Grilled Cheese & Tater Tots Since we didn’t end up having grilled cheese last week, we’re giving it another try! 📖 What We’ve Been Learning Two weeks ago, we talked about why we can trust the Bible. Last week, we built on that by looking at 2 Timothy 3:16–17. Scripture is God-breathed and is given to equip us through teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness. This week, we’re asking the practical follow-up: How do we actually allow Scripture to do those things in our lives? This Week: How Do We Let the Bible Shape Us? We’re going to give students a simple framework they can use when reading Scripture for themselves. We’ll encourage them to ask four questions: What does this Scripture say about God and His character? What does this Scripture say that God does? What does this Scripture say about who we are? In light of this Scripture, how do I get to live? Our goal is to help students move beyond simply knowing things about the Bible and learn how to engage with God’s Word and allow it to shape what they believe and how they live. 🏠 For Parents: Use These Questions at Home These four questions can be a helpful tool as you disciple your student at home. As parents, you are your student’s primary disciplers, and everyday conversations around God’s Word are an important part of helping them know, love, and follow Jesus. As your student reads Scripture—or as you read together—use these questions to guide the conversation. You don’t need to turn it into a formal Bible study or have all the answers. Simply open God’s Word together, talk about what you see, and help your student consider how it shapes the way they live. 🎉 JAM Starts This Wednesday For families who also have younger children, JAM (Jesus and Me) begins this Wednesday, September 16! Who: Children in grades 1–5 Time: 6:30–8:00 PM Please note that Student Ministry begins at 6:00 PM, while JAM begins at 6:30 PM. If your family has children participating in both ministries, we hope this helps you plan for Wednesday night and gives your younger children an opportunity to connect and grow as well. 🙏 Pray With Us Please pray for our students this week: Desire — That they would want to know God through His Word. Understanding — That they would grow in their ability to read and understand Scripture. Response — That God’s Word would shape what they believe and how they live. Habits — That spending time in Scripture would become a regular part of their lives. Uprise This Friday & Saturday Uprise is this Friday and Saturday, September 11–12. If your student is planning to attend and you haven’t signed them up yet, I need to know by 8:00 AM Wednesday morning. I’ll be purchasing the tickets Wednesday morning, so please make sure I know your student is going before then.[Uprise Post / Signup Link] Transportation Update I’m working out the final transportation details today and will update the Uprise post later today with the plan for Friday’s pickup/meetup. Please check that post for the latest information. For Saturday, we will meet at Prince Street Church at 11:00 AM. JAM is Starting!
JAM (Jesus and Me) Begins September 16 We’re looking forward to another year of JAM (Jesus and Me) at Prince Street Church! JAM gives children in 1st through 5th grade a fun and welcoming place to learn more about Jesus, build friendships, and grow in their understanding of God’s Word. This year, we’ll begin by exploring 13 Surprising Sayings and Why Jesus Said Them, helping children discover what Jesus taught and what His words mean for us today. What Happens at JAM? Each Wednesday evening includes a variety of activities designed to help children learn, participate, and enjoy time together. Kids can look forward to: Singing A Bible lesson Games Creative activities and crafts A snack Throughout the year, we’ll also celebrate various holidays with special events and activities. JAM Details Begins: Wednesday, September 16 Time: 6:30–8:00 PM Who: Children in 1st–5th grade Location: Children’s Wing Cost: Free Schedule: Every Wednesday evening during the school year Schedule & Weather Information JAM follows the school calendar. If school is closed for the day, JAM will not meet that evening. During winter weather, JAM will also follow the school’s schedule for snow cancellations. Parents and families should keep an eye on school closing information when weather conditions are uncertain. Growing in Christ Together Our desire for JAM is about more than providing a fun Wednesday evening. Through Bible teaching, relationships, and activities, we want to help children know Jesus, understand His Word, and grow as His disciples. Parents, we hope your children will join us as we begin another year of learning about Jesus together! This Week in Student Ministry — Parent Update Parents, we’re looking forward to another Wednesday night together! This week we’ll continue our Foundations series as we help students develop a strong foundation for understanding God’s Word and following Jesus. We’ll share a meal, have some fun together, and dig into some important questions about the Bible. 💬 Ask This Before Wednesday Before your student comes Wednesday night, we’d love for you to start the conversation at home. Ask them: “Why do you think we can trust the Bible?” You don’t need to give them the answer or turn it into a lesson. Just ask the question and listen. Let them think about it. Ask a follow-up question if it leads somewhere. It’s okay if they aren’t sure how to answer. Then tell them we’ll be talking about that question Wednesday night. Our hope is that this gives you an opportunity to begin a faith conversation at home while also giving your student something to think about before we gather. This Wednesday ⏰ 6:00–8:00 PM 📍 Youth House 🌮 Dinner: Nachos 📖 Foundations: Why Can We Trust the Bible? 📖 This Week in Foundations This week we’ll explore two important questions: Why can we trust the Bible? What is the purpose of the Bible? Our students live in a world where they will encounter many different ideas about Scripture. We don’t simply want them to know that Christians believe the Bible—we want them to understand why we can trust God’s Word and why God has given it to us. One of the passages we’ll look at is 2 Timothy 3:16–17, where Paul reminds Timothy that all Scripture is breathed out by God and is useful for teaching, correction, and training in righteousness so that God’s people can be equipped for every good work. The Bible isn't simply a collection of interesting stories, inspirational sayings, or rules to follow. It is God's Word, given to reveal truth, point us toward Him, shape us, and equip us to live as His people. As we continue Foundations, our goal is to help students understand what they believe, why they believe it, and how those beliefs shape the way they follow Jesus. 🙌 Uprise | September 11–12 Uprise is almost here! Student Update week of August 24
We’re back to our regular Wednesday nights this week! Come hungry, bring your Bible, bring a friend, and be ready for a great night together. 🍝 Eat • 🎲 Play • 📖 Grow ⏰ Wednesday | 6:00–8:00 PM 📍 Youth House Here’s the plan: 🍝 EAT — Spaghetti and garlic bread! 🎲 PLAY — We’ll have some fun together and plenty of time to hang out and connect. 📖 GROW — We’re starting our brand-new Foundations series. 📖 This Week: One Bible. One Story. Have you ever wondered how everything in the Bible fits together? The Bible has 66 books, different authors, different kinds of writing, and events that happened across thousands of years. But all of those pieces come together to tell one big Story. And that Story points us to Jesus. This Wednesday, we’re going to start putting the pieces together. Foundations is about understanding what we believe, why we believe it, and how God’s Word shapes the way we follow Jesus. Don’t forget to bring your Bible! 🔥 This Week’s Challenge Before Wednesday, grab your Bible and find these three passages: Genesis 1:1 John 3:16 Revelation 21:1–5 They come from very different parts of the Bible. Here’s the challenge: What do you think these three passages have to do with each other?
