From Hope to Following the King
This past Sunday we were reminded of the foundation of our hope. Our hope is not in our circumstances, our strength, or our ability to hold on. Our hope is in the risen Christ. Because our hope is in Him, we anchor ourselves in God’s Word. His Word continually points us to Christ, shapes our hearts, and teaches us how to live faithfully in a changing world. Pastor John reminded us that faithful followers of Jesus keep their eyes fixed on Christ, anchor themselves in God’s Word, and trust God with the results. But that naturally leads to another question: What does faithful living actually look like? Faithfulness is more than believing the right things. It is learning to live every part of life under the reign of the right King. That’s where we’re headed over the next three weeks. Beginning this Sunday, we’ll start a new series called Seek First, following Jesus’ teaching from Matthew 6, Matthew 13, and Matthew 7. Together we’ll discover what it means to live as citizens of God’s Kingdom. Week 1 — Seek the Right Kingdom Matthew 6:19–34 What do you treasure? How do you see the world? Where does your allegiance truly lie? Week 2 — Be the Right Soil Matthew 13:1–23 Jesus teaches that the condition of our hearts determines how we receive His Word and whether our lives bear fruit for His Kingdom. Week 3 — Build on the Right Foundation Matthew 7:13–27 Every life is built on something. Jesus calls us not merely to hear His words, but to put them into practice by building our lives on Him. As you prepare your heart this week, spend a few moments reflecting on these questions: What do I value most? How do I see the world? Where does my allegiance truly lie? My prayer is that throughout this series God would continue shaping us—not simply into people who know about His Kingdom, but into people who joyfully live under the loving rule and reign of King Jesus. JAM is Starting!
JAM (Jesus and Me) Begins September 16 We’re looking forward to another year of JAM (Jesus and Me) at Prince Street Church! JAM gives children in 1st through 5th grade a fun and welcoming place to learn more about Jesus, build friendships, and grow in their understanding of God’s Word. This year, we’ll begin by exploring 13 Surprising Sayings and Why Jesus Said Them, helping children discover what Jesus taught and what His words mean for us today. What Happens at JAM? Each Wednesday evening includes a variety of activities designed to help children learn, participate, and enjoy time together. Kids can look forward to: Singing A Bible lesson Games Creative activities and crafts A snack Throughout the year, we’ll also celebrate various holidays with special events and activities. JAM Details Begins: Wednesday, September 16 Time: 6:30–8:00 PM Who: Children in 1st–5th grade Location: Children’s Wing Cost: Free Schedule: Every Wednesday evening during the school year Schedule & Weather Information JAM follows the school calendar. If school is closed for the day, JAM will not meet that evening. During winter weather, JAM will also follow the school’s schedule for snow cancellations. Parents and families should keep an eye on school closing information when weather conditions are uncertain. Growing in Christ Together Our desire for JAM is about more than providing a fun Wednesday evening. Through Bible teaching, relationships, and activities, we want to help children know Jesus, understand His Word, and grow as His disciples. During these 21 days, our church family is praying one simple prayer each day: “Holy Spirit, help me see where You are at work today and give me courage to join You.” Parents, we would love for you to participate—and to invite your family to pray with you. Blankets are available on the shelf by the chapel bathrooms and may be picked up and given to anyone going through a difficult time, such as surgery, a loss, or another situation where God’s love and comfort would be a blessing. From September 13 through October 3, Prince Street Church is setting aside 21 days to seek God together. During these 21 days, we are encouraging everyone in our church family to pray one simple prayer each day: “Holy Spirit, help me see where You are at work today and give me courage to join You.” To help us pray together, we are sharing a new post each day on the Prince Street Church Facebook page. Each post includes a short reflection and a specific prayer focus based on one of three prompts: Spirit, lead me.

Worship This Sunday Join us this Sunday as Pastor Michael Gleason continues our Seek Ye First sermon series with a message titled “Be the Right Soil” from Matthew 13:1–23. Jesus’ parable challenges us to examine our hearts and consider how we respond to God’s Word. Come prepared to worship, grow, and encourage one another. Need to catch up before Sunday? If you missed last week’s message, take a few minutes to watch it online and stay connected as we journey through the Seek Ye First series together. → Watch Last Week’s Sermon Children in grades K–5 will be dismissed for Children’s Worship during the service, and nursery care is available for children up to age five. Sunday Morning Schedule Donuts & Coffee – 9:00 AM Sunday School – 9:30 AM Worship Service – 10:45 AM Mission Team Donations Our Kentucky Mission Team is preparing to serve in Laurel this August, and you can be part of the ministry by helping provide needed supplies. Pick up a flower from the table at the back of the sanctuary, purchase the listed item, and return it as soon as you’re able. Student Ministries Take a Break This Week There will be no Student Ministries gathering on Wednesday, July 15 as our leaders take a brief pause before upcoming summer events. We encourage students and families to use the evening to spend time together, invite a friend over, or dig into God’s Word at home. We’re looking forward to gathering again soon as we continue growing together in faith and preparing for an exciting remainder of the summer. Opportunities to Serve Fair Parking Volunteers Our annual Fair Parking ministry returns July 22, 24, and 25.
